Same Day, Different Race for the Fourth

Riverfest in La Crosse already includes patriotic activities for the 4th of July…but this year, a couple more holiday-themed events are being added. The morning of the 4th, a Saturday, will feature the Firecracker 4 Mile Run-Walk and the Liberty Dash mile-long race. Emily Sturmoski from the city park and rec department says the Liberty event will be for two different levels of runner, competitive and just plain fun level.

 

Both races replace the 5-K and 10-K Chileda Classic runs, which were held for more than 30 years in connection with Riverfest.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
