Holmen Police Department Opens Saturday

Holmen’s police department is 40 years old…and until now, the cops have never had a building just to themselves. That changes this weekend, with a Saturday ribbon cutting at the new police headquarters near Halfway Creek. The 10-thousand square foot police station is four times bigger than the area police occupy now at the Holmen village hall. The larger quarters will include more garage space for squad cars, plus larger training and evidence areas, and a lobby open 24-7. No jail cells, though. People arrested in Holmen will still be sent to the La Crosse County jail.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
