Educator: Drug Messages in Music for Kids

Exposure to DARE officers in school isn’t going to be enough to dissuade many young people from trying drugs. More classroom instruction on drug hazards might be needed, according to a La Crosse school district educator. Jon Baudek tells the heroin task force of La Crosse County that he’d like to see more information in school about the dangers of heroin and meth. Not so helpful…parents attempting to scare kids about marijuana.  He says overemphasizing the dangers of marijuana rings hollows to kids who know better.

 

Baudek believes parents should pay more attention to the kind of music their children listen to, because so much of it includes references to drug use.
