Chief Concerned About Preparedness for Crude Spills

Would the city of La Crosse be ready for a large train derailment or a crude oil explosion? La Crosse’s fire chief wants to be sure that his department has the skill and resources to deal with such a disaster. Chief Gregg Cleveland tells members of a local rail safety group that he appreciates efforts in Congress to provide more training for his crews, in case of a rail emergency.

 

Cleveland spoke at the La Crosse Amtrak station today, along with Senator Tammy Baldwin, who’s sponsoring a bill aimed at making the shipment of crude oil much safer.
