Kind Attends La Crosse Vet’s Funeral

On Thursday, Congressman Ron Kind attended a burial service at Arlington National Cemetery for La Crosse native Francis Knobel. Knobel, a corporal in the U.S. Army, went missing 65 years ago during the Korean War. Last year the Department of Defense was able to identify his remains and begin the process of providing him an official burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
Kind says that Knobel paid the ultimate sacrifice while bravely serving our country as a member of the United States Army. Kind says it was his honor to join Knobel’s family for the burial he has long deserved.
 
Kind also said that the timing of the burial coincides with the start of Memorial Day Weekend, when we as a nation take time to honor our fallen soldiers and remember the supreme sacrifice they have made for our country.
