Air Bag Recall Could Take Some Time

The biggest, most complex automotive recall of all time may take a while to complete.

About 34 million cars on the road in the US are affected by the Takata airbag recall to replace defective inflators.  Problem is, there just isn’t that many parts out there.  Not by a long shot.  Honda cars are the ones mostly impacted by the recall. Our call to a Honda dealership in La Crosse was met with a certain degree of uncertainty about how the recall would proceed although, we were told, the parts department does have inflator kits on the shelf currently.  Similar with two dealerships of different makes we called with one referring us to national corporate offices for more info.  At this point, owners of all cars can simply plug their car’s vin number into the government website SaferCar.gov to see if it is covered under the Takata airbag recall.
