Coulee Region Climate Change
The Coulee Region’s climate is showing change, according to a La Crosse County health educator…enough change to cause concern about risks to public health. Al Bliss says the area has become increasingly warm and wet in recent years, which can promote the growth of ticks that spread Lyme disease:
Bliss says wetter weather also can lead to a rise in flooding and property damage. He’s trying to raise awareness among local governments about public problems which can arise from shifts in the climate, through a new effort called the BRACE Climate and Health program.
