City Prepares For Full Storm Sewers
Cities and towns in the La Crosse area are working together again this year to reduce potential pollution when storm water gets into sewers. Karl Green of UW-Extension serves on the local stormwater utility committee. The utility idea was proposed several years ago to raise money for stormwater disposal, and to cut down on related pollution:
The concept of charging everyone a flat fee for stormwater treatment has been criticized as unfair, because people who own large lots where water can run off might pay less than owners of small parcels.
