Worker Memorial Day Set

Labor leaders and elected officials in La Crosse will mark a somber occasion next week.  April 28th is traditionally observed as Workers’ Memorial Day in La Crosse with a ceremony at Green Island Park.  Local AFL-CIO president Bill Brockmiller says the yearly event receives good community support from people on both sides of the political fence.

Two new names will be added this year to the local list of people remembered for dying on the job.  One is Kevin Parlow, an Army employee who died while repairing a vehicle.  The other is Winona State student Brooke Baures, who was killed late last year in a dumbwaiter accident at a Fountain City restaurant.
