Move Ahead Conference Coming To UW-L

A two day conference for women is coming this weekend to UW-L. The genesis for Women Moving Ahead began in 2013 when Larry Sleznikow, who works at UW-La Crosse, read the book, Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook. He tells us that’s when his work began to bring the conference to La Crosse.
 
 
Sleznikow says Women Moving Ahead works to raise awareness about the challenges women and girls in all cultures encounter in their lives and their careers. A number of community organizations were brought on board to be part of the WMA planning committee. They include the American Association of University Women, the La Crosse Public Library, the La Crosse School District, the La Crosse YWCA and UW-L’s Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department.
