Wage Laws A Waste

It’s official: prevailing wage laws in Wisconsin waste taxpayer
dollars.  At least that’s one of the findings of a newly released study by the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance.  The study identified up to 300 million dollars in labor cost overruns on public construction projects because of the law.  Which means getting rid of the law should help balance the books for local governments, says John Mielke, president of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin
Prevailing wage rules dictate a construction wage minimum on publically funded jobs.  Republican lawmakers in Madison are currently working on legislation to get rid of the decades-old law.
