Those hoping against hope to get out of paying for having their messy walks

cleared this winter in La Crosse have all been disappointed.  The city’s board of public works heard appeals this week from those having to pay hundreds of dollars for having snowy or icy walks.  Like Kelly Harter.  Out of town when it snowed one night in February.  And her husband picking up an unplanned extra 24 hour shift at his job as a firefighter at the VA in Tomah

The number of those billed by the city shot up 30% this winter after the public works board demanded stricter enforcement from the city’s engineering department.
