Hammes Accused Of Lots Of Thefts

She worked for the Catholic church offices in La Crosse and Winona for many

years…and is now accused of stealing lots of money from another archdiocese.

 

La Crosse native Rose Hammes is jailed in Kansas, for allegedly embezzling 116-thousand dollars from the Kansas City, Kansas archdiocese.  Hammes was employed by that diocese until about a year ago, when church officials told a D-A that they suspected theft by fraud.  Hammes is also known in this area as the daughter of one victim in a triple murder at an Onalaska church in 1985.  She has attended several court hearings where the church shooter, Bryan Stanley, has sought to be released from a state hospital.
