New Hotels Coming. Will Money Follow?

Not all downtown La Crosse businesses might be able to expect a big jump in

profits with the addition of new hotels in the downtown.  Not from those who overnight in those hotels, anyway, says James Cherf, a city council member and downtown business owner.    He’s also skeptical that big developments will mean his taxes drop

Cherf says money spent by visitors to the city will eventually filter through the economy and wind up in the hands of residents who will drop big dollars in places like his.
