Widen South Ave, Or Not

One of La Crosse’s busiest roads is in the middle of a fight over whether to widen it, or take other steps to reduce hazardous traffic on the street…

The state DOT has options for widening the traffic lanes on South Avenue, which is opposed by property owners who don’t want to lose land and see traffic move even faster.  Are there people near South Avenue who don’t want any changes?  City councilman Fran Formanek hasn’t heard anyone take that position:

Formanek took part in a news conference along South Avenue on Monday, noting that the state has postponed a local highway hearing that had been scheduled for next week.
