Sheriff Reacts To Waiting Period
Just a handful of states have a waiting period in place for gun
purchases. Wisconsin may soon not be one of them. Lawmakers in Madison are considering a bill that would remove the 48-hour waiting requirement before buying a handgun. Rifles and shotguns are not under the same restriction currently. Which gives La Crosse sheriff Steve Helgeson a pretty good idea of what to expect if the gun bill in Madison becomes lawGovernor Walker has indicated that he supports getting rid of the 48 hour rule. It’s been a part of Wisconsin law for about 40 years.
