Lot C Gets The Go Ahead

For the first time in over 20 years, there may soon be a building on the

block where the La Crosse Courthouse stood a century ago. The county board has okayed a memorandum with the city of La Crosse, paving the way for development of the current courthouse parking lot, now called Lot C. Associated Bank has been promised a new building on that block.  The county is buying the current bank on State Street for office space that it will need when the county administrative center is remodeled for student housing.  And board chair Tara Johnson says the county wants some guaranteed parking to remain on that block:

The last building on Lot C, the old Montgomery Ward store, was torn down in 1991.
