Governors Plan To Raise Gax Taxes To High

More than 600 road and bridge projects would be completed if the Minnesota
Legislature passes Governor Mark Dayton’s transportation plan. A $6 billion plan. State Representative Tim Kelly says one major area he has a problem with is the governor wanting to raise a wholesale gas tax increase of 6.5% which would add a minimum of 17 cents per gallon to pay for some of the projects. Too high says Kelly.
Dayton is proposing to hike vehicle registration fees to pay for the road and bridge projects. He also wants to increase the sales tax in the metro area by a half cent to pay for transit projects. Kelly says he said he expects to announce a broader package in a few weeks.
