Second Death Attributed To Tomah VA

Homeland Security Committee Chair Ron Johnson used opening remarks at a

congressional hearing this week to highlight recent issues at the Tomah Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Like the circumstance surrounding around the death of 74 year old Thomas Baer of Marshfield……the second death that stemmed from that VA.

Johnson said a report from the Government Accountability Office praised a new law overhauling the VA in the wake of a scandal over long wait times for veterans seeking care. But the report said officials must ensure that veterans obtain needed care, whether from the VA or from outside providers authorized under the 2014 law.
