La Crosse Looking At Free Food Program

Wisconsin schools are being urged to join a federal program that gives free

breakfast and lunch to all students in schools with large numbers of kids from low income families. Lyn Halvorsen with the School District of La Crosse has heard of the program.

The program debuted last fall. To be eligible, schools must have at least 40% of students certified for the program, based on the families income. 5 schools in La Crosse would be eligible.
