Sparta Chief Search Continues

The Sparta Police Commission will take a new look at resumes submitted for

the chief of police position. This after a second candidate turned down an offer from the city. Mark Sund, the city administrator, says three finalists were picked from a great pool of 40 applicants.

Citing personal reasons, Prairie du Chien Police chief Chad Abram turned down the job months ago. Now, this week, Detective Lt. Matt Mallot with La Crosse Police also turned down an offer. Sund hopes to have someone in place by the Spring now.
