Thunderbirds Are Back
The Deke Slayton Airfest used to happen every year at the La Crosse Airport,
until organizers decided to make it just an occasional event, dependent on a famous flying team being available.
However, Airfest is about to go for two years in a row, thanks to the booking of the Thunderbirds for 2015. The Air Force precision flyers will be here August 8th and 9th, following last year’s performance by the Navy’s Blue Angels. We asked Airfest president Ron Schmal if local audiences prefer one group over the other:
The Thunderbirds will be making their first visit to La Crosse in 10 years.
