Reverend Cited After Massage

Shame, and a disorderly conduct ticket for a La Crosse religious leader. Reverend Monsignor Bernard McGarty of the Diocese of La Crosse was in Wassau apparently to attend a funeral when he stopped at a salon for a massage. During the massage, the therapist was rubbing McGarty’s leg when he lifted the blanket and told her to rub oil on his genitals. She ran from the room, and according to police, the 89 year old McGarty yelled an obscenity at her. McGarty admitted to Wasau police that he told the massage therapist to rub oil on his genitals. He was given a $250 disorderly conduct ticket. Mcgarty has been a frequent speaker on religious topics in the La Crosse area and serves as a visiting scholar of ecumenical studies at Viterbo University.
