La Crosse DOT Money Still There After Monday Meeting

Commission approved an extension of the nearly $140 million funding set

aside for improving La Crosse’s transportation infrastructure.

In a letter dated September 15th Wisconsin DOT Secretary Mark Gottlieb had stated that the DOT may recommend canceling funding for the La Crosse highway project, which was first enumerated in 1997. After hearing from numerous La Crosse-area business and community leaders, the DOT decided to recommend extending the funding for an additional year.

Prior to the TPC meeting, Senator Jennifer Shilling sent a letter requesting that the community be given additional time to study transportation options and reach a consensus on future plans.
