Judge Retires Today
For a few weeks, La Crosse County will be back down to four circuit judges.
Dale Pasell, who became judge of the new Branch 5 in 1999, is retiring today. A temporary replacement for Pasell will be appointed soon by the governor, and the short list of applicants includes former assistant D-A Brian Barton. The Logan High and U-W-L graduate says he has a few ideas for improving the local courts, but adds that he wants to maintain justice and harmony in the community:
Barton says he would take a look at each individual case, to determine what kind of a sentence is justified if a suspect is convicted.
