Heroin Task Force Begins Its Second Year



One year ago today, a new task force in La Crosse County met for the first time…

The Heroin Task Force gave itself six months to study the spread of heroin use in the area, and figure out ways to control the problem.  Now, after a year, co-chair Keith Lease is hopeful that the group’s work has made a difference.  For example, local heroin-related deaths have dropped drastically:

Lease says the drug drop-box program appears to be working, and more emergency workers in the area are carrying narcan to stop heroin overdoses.
