Dump Truck Driver Faces Homicide Charges

A driver accused of a fatal crash on I-90 this summer has been

arrested, and will be charged with homicide in La Crosse County. That driver is identified as Francis Rychtik, who was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol.  Rychtik is accused of being the dump truck driver who rear-ended a car driven by Jason Songer of La Crescent, and dragged Songer’s car into the median, where it caught on fire.  Songer died in the accident.  La Crosse D-A Tim Gruenke says Rychtik was questioned at the accident scene, but investigators did not have the evidence to charge him until this week.  Rychtik will appear before a La Crosse judge on Wednesday.
