Temporary Footbridge Could Be Installed At St. Mary’s To Replace Wrecked Bridge

The bridge is down, and the highway is open again…

For now, people walking and driving at St. Mary’s University in Winona will have to get used to the new crosswalk installed after a footbridge over Highway 14 was wrecked by a truck on Monday.  Minn DOT spokesman Mike Dougherty says a meeting is being held today to start planning for rebuilding the 50-year-old overpass that had to be taken down after the accident.  Dougherty says the stairs to the crosswalk are still functional.  He says planners must decide if there’s time to install a temporary bridge before the start of winter.
