Juneau County Not A Police State According To Sheriff
President Barack Obama has ordered a review of federal programs that supplied
nearly half a billion dollars in military equipment to police departments last year, amid criticism of the heavily armed response by local law enforcement agencies to protests in Ferguson, Missouri.
Basically questioning heavy militarization of police departments. Which Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson takes issue with.
Police in the St. Louis suburb have been seen dressed in riot gear employed armored vehicles, M4 rifles like those used by forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, rubber coated metal pellets and tear gas. Oleson says because of what’s being used and what cops look like, does not mean the world is becoming a police state.
