Johnson Makes Grant County Appearance On Charge Of Killing Cabbie

Johnson has been jailed in La Crosse since June, following a police chase and crash on Highway 35.  He was in a Lancaster courtroom yesterday, on a charge of killing Merle Forbes and stealing his taxi.  Forbes was found in the trunk of the car after Johnson crashed, and was pronounced dead shortly afterward.  During his hearing on Thursday, Johnson was sentenced to 10 years in prison for violating probation in previous cases.  He’s expected back in La Crosse County court today on charges resulting from the car theft and chase.
