La Crosse Man Tries For $500,000 Payday

The Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing starts today

in Columbia, South Carolina to crown bass fishing’s top angler of 2014. The tournament will feature 45 of the world’s best bass pros and co-anglers casting for the sport’s biggest awards $500 thousand cash in the pro division and $50 thousand cash in the co-angler division. 65 year old La Crosse native, Tom Monsoor’s in it……and says he’s fortunate .

In the past year while on the tour, Monsoor has had quadruple bypass surgery and two heart attacks. Yet here he is in his 6th world championship event. With a chance to take home a $500 thousand top prize. We’ll know where he ended up on Sunday.
