Biker Hit By Drunk Driver

A 38 year old Sparta man is recovering from serious injuries he sustained

after getting hit by a car while riding his bike. According to Sparta Police, Jeremy Briggs was riding his bike around 10 Monday night when he was struck from behind by a car. Cops says he was hit by 34 year old Amber Rhodes of Sparta who was allegedly drunk at the time. Briggs was taken to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Sparta and was later flown by Med-link to La Crosse with serious, but what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Rhodes was arrested on suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving Causing Injury. Traffic in the area was rerouted for approximately three hours and the crash remains under investigation.
