Delayed Strawberry Season In Area Just Getting Started
If you’re planning a strawberry-picking day in the La Crosse area, the weather should allow for another week or two of prime picking.
Wet and cold conditions held off the start of the berry harvest in western Wisconsin until last week. Conditions are better close to Madison, where there could be one good week left for berries. Grower Ed Bures (burris) in Barneveld says ‘weird weather’ has made the berry crop a bit unpredictable:
In southern Minnesota, some farms didn’t start picking strawberries until this past weekend.
