Suspect In Theft Of Cab With Owner’s Body Inside Expected In Court Monday

A Platteville area man could appear before a La Crosse judge today, on charges related to a car theft that ended with a crash on Highway 35 last Friday.

Timmy Johnson Junior has been in custody since a police chase in which a man’s body was found in the trunk of the car he was driving.  Police say the stolen car was a taxi, and the man who died was the cab driver, apparently assaulted by Johnson, who could be charged eventually with murder.  Johnson allegedly stole the cab in Lancaster, shortly after being released from jail at the end of a sentence for other crimes.  He’s accused of stealing cars and vans on four other occasions in the past year.
