Plan to Move Inspections to Fire Department Comes Closer
A move closer towards having the La Crosse fire department be in charge of building code enforcement in the city. A city council committee has given its approval to moving inspections into the fire department. The full council votes next week on the change. Details of how to combine the departments have yet to be worked out. Mayor Tim Kabat has pushed for the change in order to improve code enforcement and also make the planning and inspection department more efficient.
