Former La Crosse Attorney Will Lose License

A former La Crosse attorney who was accused of harassing women while serving

as an eastern Wisconsin D-A loses his law license for four months. The state Supreme Court has ordered the suspension for Ken Kratz, who had tried to avoid losing his license.  Kratz worked in La Crosse in the 80’s and 90’s…first in the city attorney’s office, and then as an assistant district attorney.  Kratz stepped down as Calumet County D-A a few years ago, after he sent racy text messages to a woman whose ex-boyfriend was being prosecuted by his office.  The Supreme Court ruling says this case should lead to a thorough review of practices by the state Office of Lawyer Regulation, because the O-L-R delayed filing some charges, and then brought ‘sensational’ counts against Kratz that were later dismissed.
