Two Drivers Die In 35 Crash Near Stoddard

Vernon County had gone almost four full months into 2014 without a highway death.

But now, three people have been killed in Vernon County accidents in the last nine days. Two drivers died Tuesday in a head-on collision, on Highway 35 south of Stoddard. Seventy-year-old Robert Williams of Stoddard was killed when he tried passing a car and hit another vehicle head-on. The driver of that other car, 55-year-old Margaret Springborn of De Soto, died after being taken to Gundersen in La Crosse. The afternoon crash tied up traffic on 35 for several hours.
