Dick Record Among Pope John Winners At Viterbo

The long-time voice of Midwest Family Radio in La Crosse is getting a major honor in the community…

Retired Midwest Family president Dick Record is one of four people named this year to receive the Pope John the 23rd Award from Viterbo University. Record came to La Crosse in 1971 to head WIZM-AM. Under Record, the company has expanded to own six radio stations in the La Crosse area. This year’s other Pope John winners include Western Tech president Lee Rasch, and supermarket owners Phil and Barbara Quillin. The awards will be presented at Viterbo on May 29th.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
