PDC Furniture Store Destroyed By Fire

Houses within two or three blocks of a shopping center in Prairie du Chien were evacuated last night, because of embers blowing from the site of the Slumberland fire.

The furniture store at Blackhawk Crossing in Prairie was destroyed in the fire Sunday night, and smoke damage was reported at most other nearby businesses in the strip mall. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire hasn’t been announced yet. The store was built as a large supermarket in the early 1960’s. Slumberland moved in a few years ago.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
