Security Concerns Linger for Fire Boat at Marina

For now, the La Crosse fire department’s boats will stay on trailers in fire stations.  But one of them appears to be heading to a slip at the new Black River Marina on the northside.  Fire chief Gregg Cleveland would have preferred a dedicated boat house for his 26 foot jet boat.  But at least a slip gets the boat closer to the water.  And at a fraction of the cost

 

 

Cleveland says security issues will still have to be addressed before he agrees to putting the fire boat in a slip.  The city’s new police boat is supposed to go in the same marina.
