Absentee Vote Does Not Matter……Sparta Can Sell Beer And Wine

The City of Sparta, the largest community of their size in the state to

not be able to sell beer or wine in the city, moved one step closer to turning that around today. The referendum to allow the sale of wine and beer passed a referendum vote Tuesday by 5 votes.  But 8 absentee ballots had not arrived by then, keeping the winning vote total in limbo. Until today. Only 1 ballot came back in the mail meaning the referendum will pass.

But the fight for some is not over yet…..the City Clerk in Sparta tells us that a re-count will possible asked for sometime next week.
