UW-L Educator Campaigning For More P.E. Funds

The Promoting Health for Youth Skills in Classrooms and Life senate bill

would designate physical education and health education as core subjects, making them eligible for federal funding under Title I and Title II. UW-L physical education instructor, Lori Peterson says most schools have under $1000 for their P.E. programs per year. Just not enough anymore.

One reason she went to Washington D.C. last week along with representatives from 37 other states. To help ensure health and physical education are considered as core academic subjects under the federal education law known as Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
