Sochi Medalist Antoine Celebrated In PDC This Weekend

One area town celebrates a native’s Olympic success this weekend…

In Prairie du Chien, men’s skeleton medalist Matt Antoine will attend a community reception tonight, and serve as grand marshal for the St. Patrick’s Day parade tomorrow. Antoine’s sport requires him to slide down a course on his stomach at more than 100 miles an hour, with his arms kept to his side. He tells us that he knows a race has gone well, if he doesn’t remember much of anything about it.

 

Antoine says he and his family had a very good time attending the Sochi Olympics, and he thinks the media overplayed the complaints of other athletes there.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
