$100K Prize In Hunger Fighting Contest To Be Awarded Tonight

A prize of 100-thousand dollars will be awarded in La Crosse tonight…

The money will be presented to one of two groups that came up with plans for fighting hunger in the La Crosse area. The contest, called the Coulee Collaboration, was announced over a year ago by the Franke Charitable Foundation. Its goal is to get many community organizations to pool their talents, and figure out ways to provide food to needy local residents. While only one group could win the grant money, foundation director Mel Hoffman says ideas offered by the losing group could become part of the hunger-fighting project.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
