Police Chief Encouraged by Private Support for Officers

Even the La Crosse police chief admits it’s an unusual partnership.  Chief Ron Tischer tells us he’s never heard of private entities providing funding support for individual officers in the same way that Viterbo and Mayo in La Crosse are funding a cop dedicated to the neighborhood of the medical center and the college.  But, Tischer says, the partnership makes sense

 

 

The department announced this week that two officers would be dedicated to the Washburn neighborhood.  One paid for by Viterbo and Mayo.  One funded by fed grant money.  Funding for both will be for just the next three years.
