Two Injured In Vernon County Crash

Injuries to two people this morning as a car and truck collided in the Town of Kickapoo. The accident happened east of Readstown on US Highway 14 near Espe Road.

 

An eastbound pickup truck driven by 44 year old Clayton Neprud of Soldiers Grove lost control on the icy road. Neprud’s truck spun out of control and went across the centerline into oncoming westbound traffic lane. 62 year old Jerry Schaller of Soldiers Grove was operating a car westbound and was unable to avoid Neprud’s vehicle coming into his lane. Both vehicles collided in the westbound lane came to rest on the highway blocking the westbound lane.

 

The Sheriff’s Department reports both drivers were transported by ambulance to Vernon Memorial Hospital. In addition, both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

 

 

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.
