Apparent Chemical Leak Causes Stink On Causeway

Complaints of a natural gas smell have been reported today at many points along the La Crosse River.  Firefighters were called out to Three Rivers Plaza, and complaints of the smell also came from the Lang Drive area.  Xcel Energy reportedly is focusing on the southside festgrounds, where a leak may have occurred in a tank containing the chemical that’s added to natural gas to give it an odor.
