WINONA, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is investigating after a Canadian Pacific Railway train dribbled about 12 thousand gallons of crude oil between Winona and Red Wing in southeastern Minnesota.

MPCA spokeswoman Cathy Rofshus says no major cleanup is planned because the oil splattered between the tracks as the train was moving Monday. It involved less than half the contents of a typical tanker car, which holds about 26 thousand gallons.

The leak was traced to a valve or cap problem. Canadian Pacific spokesman Ed Greenberg says the railroad is investigating the cause and will cooperate fully with any cleanup efforts if they’re required.
