Narcan Teaching Coming

Firefighters in Wisconsin who respond to drug overdose cases have not be

authorized to give an antidote to a patient…but that situation is changing. Starting in February, La Crosse firemen will be permitted to supply Narcan in case of overdose.  And local EMS trainer Jim Hillcoat says the medication can come in handy for many people, other than young people trying to take heroin:

While the La Crosse fire department is permitted to use Narcan on a trial basis, firemen statewide could use it if the legislature approves certain bills designed to reduce heroin use.
