DNR Credits Single Stream for Recycling Boom
Wisconsin is not the top recycling state in the nation. But getting better, according to a new report from the DNR. The agency finds that single stream recycling is helping Wisconsinites get to over six hundred pounds per household in everything from recycled newspapers to tin cans. La Crosse city public works director Dale Hexom has high hopes for the single stream recycling system that’s about to start in his city. A big change. But maybe not as big as when the city started to recycle plastics just a few years ago
Under the new single stream system that officially begins next month, recycling is expanded to include everything from styrofoam to magazines. And it all goes in one bin.
